Why does time without a role change lower the score?
Because stability and stagnation feel identical from the inside. The difference only becomes visible when you next go to market, and by then it is expensive to correct.
Why measure pay against inflation?
Because a rise below inflation is a pay cut, and it is one most people never calculate. Showing the nominal figure alone would be flattering and wrong.
